My research focuses on the organisational design, performance and management of official international development actors.  I have a particular interest in the comparative analysis of bilateral donor agencies, especially their governance, strategies and internal incentives.  I am keen to look at how the relationship between these organisational dynamics can improve the impact and effectiveness of development cooperation and have conducted fieldwork in Bolivia, Mozambique, India and Vietnam.

Beyond this empirical policy-oriented focus, I have theoretical interests in advancing the boundaries of international public management and comparative public administration with reference to development contexts and processes.
